World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly – Sunday 27th July 2025  

Our late Holy Father, Pope Francis,  established this day of celebration in 2021,  choosing the Sunday nearest the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne (July 26), the grandparents of Jesus.  This year’s theme chosen by Pope Francis:  “Blessed are those who have not lost hope” (cf. Sirach 14:2)

On this day, we pray that grandparents and the elderly may be cherished for their wisdom, surrounded by love and granted good health and peace.
