Society of St. Vincent De Paul Food Appeal

The Annual Food Appeal for the St. Vincent De Paul Society will take place from Sunday 25th November through to Sunday 9th December.   The Society of St. Vincent De Paul are very grateful for past contributions and once again are appealing for your help.   Boxes for donations are available in the churches.

CASA VIDA: Many thanks for your overwhelming generosity after last weekend’s Masses in Patrickswell in support of Casa Vida, an orphanage and school for boys in Lima, Peru.  Casa Vida means Home Life and there was a homely and lively attendance on both occasions and the ladies serving tea and coffee were kept busy, as were those selling raffle tickets.  An outstanding total of €1,076 has been forwarded to the support group in Majorca.  Alonso aged eleven and Clever who will turn twelve in January will be delighted to know that they are being sponsored for another year, with the remainder of the money being allocated to their school.

Milford Hospice Official Ceremony to mark the illumination of this year’s Memory Tree will take place on Sunday 9th December at 6.00pm.  The lights will remain illuminated until Sunday 6th January 2019 at 6.00pm when Mass will be celebrated at Milford Care Centre.  Everyone is welcome to sponsor a light and it’s not just for those who have used the services of Milford.  Lights can be sponsored for €5.00 from now until Christmas and will shine throughout the festive season.

Orders can be placed on line by visiting www.milfordcarecentre.ie  or by calling the Fundraising Department on 061 485859 or 061 485860.

Manister Drama Group are currently in rehearsal for the upcoming play “Nobody’s Talking to Me” by Tommy Marren.  Drama-goers of all ages can look forward to this fun comedy entertainment in Manister Community Hall for one weekend only; Saturday December 1st and Sunday December 2nd, both shows at 8pm.  Directed by Sarah Moloney, the actors are working hard to ensure the audiences have a great night out by bringing live theatre to the heart of the countryside.  Tickets available at the door and a raffle will be held for lots of spot prizes.

The Thursday Club will hold an auction in Ballybrown/Clarina Community Resource Centre on Thursday next 29th November at 1.00pm in aid of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Interactive Online Advent 2018 Calendar:

A specially commissioned interactive Advent Calendar has been launched on the Irish Catholic Bishops’ website.  The virtual doors will begin to open from the First day of Advent on Sunday 2nd December 2018, and one door will open every day from then until Christmas.  As a unique Advent prayerful resource, the calendar will provide a special focus on family as part of ongoing reflections following the visit of Pope Francis to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families 2018.  You can visit the calendar each day for a reflection, content from Pope Francis, information about Advent, prayer, music and much more on www.catholicbishops.ie.
