Sunday 3rd February – Feast Day of Saint Blaise, Patron Saint of Throat Illnesses: Saint Blaise’s protection of those with throat troubles apparently comes from a legend that a boy was brought to him who had a fishbone stuck in his throat. The boy was about to die when Saint Blaise healed him.
As we bless candles this weekend we pray that the light of Christ may be with us in any darkness in our hearts.
As we know too well, darkness comes into our hearts in various ways….
Worry…Anxiety….Fear….Stress….being bullied or abused in any way….the list goes on.
May the light of Christ be with us. May the light of Christ bring us Healing and Hope. May we bring the Christ to each other. We pray as well through Saint Blaise that we may be protected from all illness of the throat.
For anyone who wishes to have their throat blessed, this will take place after morning Masses on Sunday 3rd February in both churches.

COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER
Tiny Sebastian who with her family moved to the Parish from India seven years ago died unexpectedly on 15th January last. Tiny was a nurse, wife to Cyril and mother to Riyana aged 8 and Riyon aged 4.
A fundraiser is being held by the community of Patrickswell-Ballybrown to help the family with funeral costs of repatriating Tiny’s remains back to India and to express our support to them at this sad and traumatic time. As part of the ongoing Community Fundraiser, envelopes are now available throughout the parish for donations and can be returned to any of the boxes at the back of the churches, Parish Office or Resource Centres and the Patrickswell Post Office.
