Marking Palm Sunday with a Door Wreath
This time last year during our first lockdown some people made Palm Cross wreaths to place on the front door of their homes on Palm Sunday. Why not have a go at making such a wreath to mark Holy Week this year in your house. We may not be able to come together at Mass at this time but we can mark the beginning of Holy Week at home using the wreath as a symbolic gesture. The wreath can be as simple as two pieces of palm (or any seasonal foliage) tied together in the form of a cross and then fixed to the front door. The palm could also be left as a straight branch, or it could be bent around in a circle, and then placed on your front door after your home celebration on Palm Sunday (this year the 28th of March), in the same way as some people like to put a Christmas wreath on their door. Almighty God, bless our crosses (+) that they may be for us signs of Christ’s victory over sin and death; and bless us this Passion-tide as we journey with Christ towards his Cross on Good Friday. Amen.
