Message from Bishop Brendan Leahy

I write now to let you know that your parish will be part of a Pastoral Unit, that will comprise of the parishes of St. Paul’s, Mungret, Raheen and Crecora, Patrickswell and Ballybrown. The following priests will be co-parish priests of all  these parishes, that is, they will together exercise their pastoral ministry as a team throughout all the parishes: Canon John O’Shea, Fr. Richard Davern, Fr. Noel Murphy and Fr. Mike Cussen.  You will see these priests celebrate Mass in each of the churches.  Fr. Mike Cussen will be the Moderator of the Team.  Fr.  Robin Thomas will continue as Chaplain to the Syro-Malabar Community but will also assist in the Pastoral Unit.  Frs. Éamonn Fitzgibbon, Eamon Purcell and Mgr. Michael Lane will also be helping out.  Each of the priests will continue to reside in the parish where they currently live.

Indulgences at the Commemoration of All Souls

  1. From 12 Noon on the 1st of November to 2nd November, all who have confessed, received Holy Communion and prayed for the Pope’s intentions can gain one Plenary Indulgence.  Confessions may be made at any time within the week preceding or the week following 1st November.
  2. The faithful who visit a cemetery and pray for the dead may gain a Plenary Indulgence once per day from 1st to 8th November.

Purgatorial Offerings:  There will be special envelopes for the Purgatorial Offerings available in both churches for those not using the weekly envelopes.  Masses for the deceased are offered on First Fridays and other times throughout the year.

Hallowe’en Night Wednesday 31st October

The Community Alert Committee will be on patrol from 4.30pm in various places throughout the parish on Wednesday 31st.  As an aid to help avoid anti-social behaviour on the night, we are requesting that, where possible,  householders would remove bins, flower pots etc., from around their front gates and walls.  We would also ask people to look out over the weekend for the elderly and those living alone.

We in Community Alert wish all parishioners a peaceful Hallowe’en.
